Congratulations

Susie here with a new post for Die-Namites.

The brand new Bird Nest die is going to be one of my staples.  I can imagine using this every season of the year and I wonder if you can too.

Here is the card I made using this die:

I formed my card base with patterned paper and Washi tape that I first adhered to some white card stock.  I also chose a small sentiment stamp to place above the Washi tape.

After I die cut my bird nest from brown card stock, I covered it in Versamark ink.  I sprinkled clear embossing powder over it and then heat embossed the die cut.

Here is a close up of my finished die cut. I don't think you can tell, but it is very shiny and dimensional to the touch.  I love this technique!

I hope you will try this soon.  I would love to see what you make with Die-Namites dies and the different techniques you discover!

Sketch Challenge Accepted!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

On Monday you might of seen the sketch Lynne Forsythe posted on
the Die-Namites blog. If you haven't please scroll down and
check out the beautiful creations that are already up from Lynne and Peggy!
Here is the sketch Lynne had for us:

Here is my take on the sketch. I changed it up just a little to work for me.

Today I am working with one of the latest die releases by Die-namites.
 The Summer Basket

I was a little challenged by this die. Not exactly sure how I was going to use it even though I love it and think its beautiful. The detail in it was so pretty that I didn't want it to get lost in the project. I decided to layer and add color with copics. Here is a couple of shots where I sketched some lines separating the flowers from each other and the basket, and where I cut it out.

Here is when I assembled the background cardstock, the die cut,
and the cut-apart floral portion of the die cut.

I cut the background paper in a circle shape and adhered that to a pretty aqua doily. Lynne's dare was to use fabric in your project. I don't really have any fabric laying around so I did the next best thing and got some thin yarn and added that around my circle, in a button bow, and the string for the pendant.

The pendant was made using a punch by EK Success.
Background paper is from Studio Calico.

I love playing with a sketch when I am lacking my own creative inspiration. Sometimes its just enough to get my creativity flowing. I also love it when it helps me get out of my comfort zone and try new things. Make sure you check back here every 1st Monday of the month for that month's sketch and dare!
Happy Crafting!

Time Heals The Soul....Canvas

I couldn't resist using the beautiful and delightful "butterfly frame" die!
I always have a canvas sitting close by as a place to give leftover stucco/gesso mixtures, extra paints and little scraps.
Ready for something to spark in my creative mood....

Die~Namites Dies: "Butterfly Frame"

NEW - Butterfly Frame

Again I took regular printer paper and cut out the beautiful butterfly frame die..then glued the whole piece together to give the frame a backing...Then I started inking the outer frame piece with Prima's chalk inks, then using gesso to give tooth and texture. Lastly glimmer mist painting on the edges around the frame...and of course a little glitter glam to adorn the butterflies....added some stamping and more mist sprays....
and you have a beautiful canvas piece and background.
Speaking of the background of course I used leftover stucco, inks, paints and watercolors. Twinkling H2O's add the most fabulous and smooth color tones.

Everything you see here as embellishments I found sitting on my creative desk, little pieces and doo dads...just love the look of this....frame so bright and cheerful so out of my comfort zone...cool...

"time heals the soul"
speaks loudly to me and my heart right now....

Don't be affraid of trying something new and off the wall in your creative style...slap leftover mediumns and create beautiful backgrounds...and scraps left on your desk.

Thanks for stopping by,
Peggy Lee

finding INSPIRATION!

Howdy Die~Namites Die Fans....
Lynne Forsythe here for today's post.

Let's begin with a question.....
Do you sometimes get stuck in a design rut??
Have no mojo for an upcoming project?
Just stumped as to where to begin??
I find that I LOVE to go to sketches!!
It's a GREAT PLACE to just BEGIN
and let the inspiration get jumpstarted and then it seems to just flow!!

I had a few sketches banging around.... here is one....
Nothing FANCY
just a simple line drawing!

Then I added a twist....
I needed to use at least ONE die,
FABRIC and NO flower cluster!

Now, this sketch could be interpreted into a card, ATC,
beginnings to an Altered Art piece....
even a layout!

It was good to do this exercise....
I find myself always creating the same
"LOOK" it was nice to branch out!
For my card I used...

I used lots of colors,
(maybe tooo many)
trying different techniques.

I cut the "Love Heart" from Corkstock
spritzed it, sprayed it and painted it!

Can you see the "Twiggy Hedge" nestled in the background?

So.....there you have it PEEPS.....
my artistic exercise!

Be watching on the First Monday of September
as we invite you to join along with our
Monthly Sketch and
"Die~Namites Dare"!!

PS.....I think there will even be a Prize for a RANDOM participant!
Be watching for more details!

Miss You!

Susie here with a new post for Die-Namites.

The brand new Blooming Carnation die is one I think you will be using over and over on your beautiful cards. And the most wonderful thing about dies is the plethora of ways you can dream up to use them.

I thought I'd show you a technique today that perhaps you had not ever considered.  Here is my card and I'll tell you all about the technique.

I die cut my carnation twice - once in red and once in green.  I cut the green flowers off the green stem and discarded them. And then snipped the red stem from the red flowers. I took the flowers and covered them with Versamark ink.  It was so easy - I just smooshed the flowers into the ink pad.

Once the flowers were completely covered with the Versamark ink, I sprinkled clear embossing powder over them and heat embossed them.  Here is a close up of my finished die cut.  Aren't the flowers so shiny!!

I hope you will try this soon.  I would love to see what you make with Die-Namites dies and the different techniques you discover!

anyone can catch my eye... by Dunja Dücker

 Hello together,

it's me again. I hope you enjoyed the weekend?
A new week... a new inspiration...

Today I created a TAG for you.
You can use them for every little gift, also to leave a small note.

I used one of the amazing new Dies, the Budding Branch

NEW - Budding Branch

Did you see, what my lovely Temie Lynne did with that Die?
You can see that creation here.

I did my creation again in the romantic style and punched this shape two times.
Additionally, I've used a text stamp and attached a cord tied and a little charm.

I'll thank you for your visit and hope you liked my inspiration.
Have a great week and enjoy the summer.

Bye for now....Love, Dunja xx
