From The Heart Card

TGIF Die~Namite Fans!

I have another Valentine's inspired card to share today featuring one of my favorite dies Lilacs!

Next to die cutting my most used and go to supply is my stash of Distress Ink, they allow me to create custom papers and die cuts.

I started the card by creating the background paper by using Distress Markers in 3 shades of pink to color a background stamp.  Once I stamped the background I went over the entire paper with some Antique Linen Distress Ink to soften the look.  From there I added additional layers of Distress Ink and stamping.

Once my background was ready I pulled out the Lilacs die cutting first a piece of green & white herringbone pattern paper.  The white was too bright and didn't fit with the look I wanted to achieve so I inked the die cut with some Bundled Sage Distress Ink...looks a little on the blue side...interesting effect.

Of course Lilacs aren't green so I ran the die through my Big shot a second time using scrap of old Basic Grey paper in pink.  Next I cut the flower portions of the die and layered them on top...adding a touch of ink to them first.  With the card put together I added some drops of a translucent Viva Decor Pearl Pen to make water droplets on the flowers.

Thank you so much for stopping by today I hope this card has inspired you to have some fun with your supplies and try new things!

Turning Christmas Leftovers into Valentine Treasures.

Hi Die-Namite Fans!

Today I am bringing a few leftovers from my holiday scrapbooking and reviving them with a little valentine flair. Of course this little bag/tag holder is so universal it can be used for any occasion.

The beautiful Die-Namites Die that I am working with today is the Fresh Cut Rose, Part of the latest release at Die-namites Dies.

 Fresh Cut Rose

I love the simple elegance of this die. First thing I did was cut a bunch of the roses out of heavy white cardstock. Normally I would use my alcohol markers to color in the die cut but this time I wanted a little different look. I grabbed my Heidi Swapp color shine mists in Chartreuse and Sweet Cherry. I covered the rosebud and sprayed the stem with the Chartreuse and let dry, then covered the stem and sprayed the rosebud with the Sweet Cherry.

Once everything was dry I took a versamark ink pad and blotted the ink pad directly on the rosebud. I added some Ranger frosted crystal embossing powder and heat set. Then I took my versamarker and using the brush tip I covered the top portion of the leaves and then covered with American Crafts embossing powder in gold and heat set that as well.

I had a few leftover pieces from Holiday papercrafting. The 3x4 pocket and chipboard heart are from Studio Calico and the tag and trim were things I just happen to have on hand. I attached the Fresh Cut Rose diecut and a bow to the pocket with a staple. After this was finished I sewed the pocket onto a little fabric bag I had leftover from a kit.

I took the tag and lightly misted it with some light pink ink spray and then stamped the “Thank You” sentiment in black. In my case I was using this bag for a friend but it really could be used for any occasion such as Birthday or Valentine’s Day.

To finish it off I added a chipboard heart below the sentiment. After the photos were taken I wrote a little note and tucked it back into its pocket. I like this idea because the recipient can choose to reuse this in their own gift giving later if they wanted.

When you are putting away your Christmas supplies I challenge you to repurpose them into something beautiful alongside one of Die-Namite’s gorgeous dies.

Vintage Valentine Card

Have you seen the latest release of Die~Namites Dies
They are so gorgeous and perfect for making Valentine's Cards!!

Today I am sharing a vintage Valentine's card I made
using the Elegant Heart Frame and Love Arrangement Dies.

I started by cutting the Elegant Heart Frame from some Tim Holtz Stencil packaging that hadn't made it's way to the recycle bin...and well now I think I'll hoard the rest for future projects.  Once I cut the die out I sanded it a little to distress it then inked it with Tea Stain Distress Ink.

The vintage photo is from a piece of Tim Holtz paper, this was perfect for a vintage card.  But just think how awesome the Elegant Heart Frame would be on a scrapbook page to frame out a photo of a loved one!!

I added various layers of paper adding a little color to the card.  I cut the Love Arrangement die from a scrap of light pink paper then cut off some of the leafy parts tucking them behind the photo.

A couple of Prima flowers finished it off, now I have a card to give to that special someone in my life!  Thank you for stopping by today, have a wonderful weekend!

The Great Outdoors

With all this cold weather I needed a little extra warmth this week so I pulled out a photo from our summer trip a couple years ago.  I took Peggy's sketch from January's Sketch & Dare Challenge and turned it into a layout!!

I used the Lilac as part of my embelishment clusters to bring focus to the photo.  Peggy's Dare is to use texture on your die cut...oh how I love some texture!!!

After I cut the Lilacs from pattern paper I added a touch of ink to the edges then added some Glass Beads for texture.

I used a clear medium to adhere the glass beads allowing the color of the paper to show through while making the color pop a bit more!

In case you didn't hear the news we are having a Design Team Call,
be sure to pop over and check it out!!
