February Sketch and Dare Challenge by Annmarie Colbert

Welcome Die~Namites Fans....
this week on the blog....
is the week of LOVE!

Hi everyone, hope everyone has been having a wonderful week. I am so glad that Christmas has come and gone and we can finally try and think about some warmer weather.  It’s almost time for spring, so I decided to take this month’s sketch and challenge over at Die-namites Dies and create a warm and colorful canvas

Here is a glimpse at this month’s sketch:

Use at least one Die~Namites Die in your creation.
  1. Use the SKETCH! It can be interpreted (loosely or exactly) as a card, layout or altered piece!
  2. Incorporate the DARE into your creation.
  3. Mention the Die~Namites Die you used in your blog post.
  4. Link back to the Die~Namites Die.
  5. You have until the last day of the month to post your creation on your blog and link up to this post.  **PLEASE add a link to your direct post, not your entire blog.*
Each participant will receive one entry into our random drawing
for each entry into the challenge.
A random winner will be chosen from eligible participants for a
$25 Gift Certificate to Die~Namites Dies.

I am going to use the below dies on my canvas:

I began with an 8 x 8 canvas I cut some designer paper into strips and started attaching them with some gel medium to the center of the canvas randomly. I applied a thin coat of gesso over the entire canvas to push the paper strips further into the background. I took some stencils and modeling paste to add more texture to the canvas. I added some color sprays to the canvas and let them drip down and I also used a brush to get the color in other areas. I wanted to add a little more texture to the canvas, so I decided to do some stamping with background stamps.

I cut the arrow under the heart with some pattern paper and the heart was cut out of some corrugated board I had laying around in my scrap room.  For the center piece on the heart, I took three roses and sprayed them with some pink spray. Using the Flowering Branch DN-1044 and the Leafy Branch DN-1046 arranging them in a triangle pattern and added some twine to give the spray a fuller look.
Thank you for stopping by!
